ASUS Will Allegedly Start Manufacturing DRAM Amid Hardware Shortages

A new player in the market.

ASUS

If you haven't heard about the RAM crisis, you can go check out the prices for this piece of hardware. With Micron focusing on providing its RAM to AI companies and the overall shift in the business, some RAM options are more expensive than top GPUs, and this affects game developers, who now have to work on optimization earlier than they otherwise would

However, the DRAM market might get a boost soon, as ASUS is reportedly planning to enter the competition with its own products. According to Sakhtafzarmag, the company wants to start DRAM production by the end of Q2 2026 if prices and supply don't go back to normal.

As Wccftech mentioned, memory shortages are expected to last until the end of 2027 and perhaps even slide into 2028.

While the information is just a rumor at the moment, it's not that surprising, and many people expect other companies to enter the race as an opportunity to use the shortages to their advantage, but setting up production lines will take time, so it's better to buy RAM now.
