Frankie DeRosa spoke about creating realistic heads for the 2019 game's cinematics.
Frankie DeRosa, a Principal Character Artist and former Lead Character Artist at Blur Studio, has recently shared a couple of insightful showcases on ArtStation, offering a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the creation of characters for Infinity Ward's 2019 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
Going through his earlier works, Frankie discovered a collection of never-before-seen character head renders made by Blur Studio to be used in Modern Warfare's cinematics and generously shared them online for our viewing pleasure. Additionally, the artist provided some commentary on the renders, revealing his direct responsibilities and explaining that the heads of Price, Laswell, Farah, and The Butcher were set up using a combination of Maya, ZBrush, 3ds Max, and V-Ray.
"One of my roles for this particular project was to clean up scan data (scans provided by Infinity Ward)," the creator wrote. "I sculpted the HPs for Price, Laswell, Farah, and The Butcher's head, and also the textures/materials and look dev in V-Ray. I also set up, transferred, and sculpted all the compression and stretch maps for the heads' blendshapes."
