Best Bugs in God of War Ragnarök Development

Santa Monica is celebrating the game's anniversary in a special way.

God of War Ragnarök is already a year old: the game was released on November 9, 2022, and Santa Monica decided to celebrate the occasion by showing players the best, most fun bugs the team encountered during development.

Just like in the first part of Midgard Mishaps, released for God of War on PS4 in 2018, there is a little bit of everything here. Hair leaves its owners, heads roll in bizarre ways, characters suddenly fly away who knows where, bodies grow in size, and faces just twitch and scrunch.

"The team at Santa Monica Studio poured their hearts and souls into God of War Ragnarök, and along the way, encountered some unforgettable mishaps. For the one-year anniversary, we wanted to share a few of the unexpected moments from development that remind us how complex, challenging, and unintentionally hilarious making a game can be."

The studio worked hard on the game, and players' love for it proves it: God of War Ragnarök has a Metascore of 94 and a User Score of 8.0 on Metacritic.

If you'd like to know how the snow system was made (no bugs this time), check out our interview with Santa Monica's Senior Staff Rendering Programmer.
