Capcom's CEO Believes PC Will Be World’s Leading Gaming Platform

Expect more movies from the company.

Capcom

Capcom has celebrated its 12th consecutive year of profit growth, with its CEO Kenzo Tsujimoto attributing a large part of its success to PC.

"In the fiscal year ended March 31, 2025, Capcom achieved its 12th consecutive year of increased operating profit, 10th consecutive year of 10%-or-better operating profit growth, and 8th consecutive year of record highs across all profit indicators," his report says.

Tsujimoto believes that PC "will further establish itself as the world’s leading gaming platform, which will serve to increase the value of the PC market." Capcom is planning to "gain a deeper understanding of the characteristics and trends of the PC market and PC users, and bolster our game development and sales strategies with that in mind." Simply said, expect more Capcom games to be released for PC.

In FY 2025, PC games accounted for about 50% of sales, with 19.1 million units sold in the covered 9-month period (and that's excluding the wildly popular Resident Evil Requiem), and the company expects this ratio to continue to increase.

Aside from games, Capcom wants to invest more in movies to "further increase brand penetration."

"As a more familiar medium than games, movies serve as a means of conveying the worldview and appeal of our content. They also act as a gateway to our IP for people who have never played our games."

Seems like Capcom and PlayStation have different strategies about platform releases: it is said that PlayStation plans to stop publishing games on PC.
