Character from Junji Ito's Uzumaki Manga Series Recreated in 3D
Have a look at how the 2D style was transferred to 3D.
3D Artist known on Reddit as SploogeMaster2301 unveiled this animated take on Azami Kurotani from the manga series Uzumaki, written and illustrated by Junji Ito.
Using Blender, the artist recreated the character while keeping the manga's distinct aesthetics, including its sharp linework, and conveying the same unsettling atmosphere as the original. Recreating the character in 3D was a tricky task, since much of Ito's horror comes from hand-drawn texture and linework, details that are easily transferred through a 3D medium. Despite that, the character's eerie presence is preserved intact.
