Marmo Arts, a design studio specializing in creating 3D characters and assets for games, has recently showcased a highly-detailed 3D recreation of The Lord of the Rings' Gollum based on Andy Serkis' portrayal of the character in Peter Jackson's LOTR and The Hobbit movies.
Described as the "ultimate challenge" for the team, the digital version of Smeagol was set up to pay tribute to the character, as according to Marmo Arts, Serkis' version of the corrupted Hobbit inspired many of the team members to pursue their career in the realm of digital art. To set up the model, the artists utilized a combination of Maya and ZBrush, as well as Unreal Engine.
