Check Out These Reference Shots for Character Animation in a Sci-Fi Pixel-Art Platformer

The developer of LUNARK put a lot of time and effort into creating the game.

Take a behind-the-scenes look at the pixelated sci-fi adventure LUNARK and explore how the character animations for the game were crafted with a demo shared by Johan Vinet, founder of Canari Games.

It's impressive how much effort and creativity went into bringing the game's scenes to life – from crafting physical props to staging a tense sci-fi escape sequence set within a regular room.

LUNARK is a reimagining of classic 90s 2D cinematic platformers, set on a dystopian distant planet amid a rebellion. You play as Leo, a courier with unique skills and a mysterious past, and make your way through beautiful pixel art locations, running, jumping, climbing, rolling, and more.

The environments vary from grim megalopolis to eerie caves and alien woods, where the character solves puzzles, navigates through traps, fights enemies, and meets vibrant characters, challenging the hero's allegiances.
