Game Developer Kenji Ma unveiled a preview of his game SUMIGIRI (墨斬) created with only four colors apart from black and white.

The game was a submission for a Japanese Game Jam; the challenge was to use only four assigned colors, with the possibility to adjust their saturation and brightness. Ma worked on the project as a solo developer and used Unity to develop the game.

The four assigned colors were:

• Light green: HSV (111°, 48%, 89%)
• Dark blue: HSV (228°, 96%, 70%)
• Medium green: HSV (159°, 52%, 67%)
• Violet: HSV (253°, 52%, 55%)

The result is a cool comic book-style 3D action game where a character wields a giant brush, splashes ink across the battlefield, and fights their enemies. "Write a character with your brush, and that character becomes your skill," the developer explains the game's main idea.

Kenji Ma also participated in Brackeys Game Jam and created a short Unity-powered 2D side-scrolling dark fantasy action game Peaceful Flock. Following the challenge's topic, "Trust No One," the developer added dialogue choices to the game and explored the complex question of whether the things we have always taken for granted are really as trustworthy as they seem.
