Check Out This Impressive Paint Erosion Effect Made in Blender 4.1

Cartesian Caramel showcased an amazing new effect achieved with Geometry Nodes.

Cartesian "Bbbn192" Caramel, a renowned 3D Blender Artist and Animator whose projects we just can't get enough of, continues experimenting with Blender 4.1, an upcoming update currently in Alpha, showcasing one more outstanding project achieved with it.

In this instance, the artist utilized Blender 4.1 to set up a striking particle-based paint erosion effect, giving the illusion that the model's texture instantly flakes away and disappears. As always, the artist relied on the software's Geometry Nodes toolset to bring the final stunning result to life.

And here's a comprehensive two-hour-long breakdown showing how the effect was set up:

Previously, Bbbn192 experimented with Geometry Nodes in Blender 4,1, utilizing it to set up a custom-made rigging system. Said system was then used to animate robotic 3D legs in the software, which were then attached to Blender's default cube:

And here are some more of Cartesian's insightful guides on all things Blender 4.1:

Earlier, the artist also demonstrated a recreation of the timeline collapse effect from the Loki TV series, an amazing procedural spider robot animation, a neat fence-melting effect, a stunning branching paths VFX, a delicious baking bread animation, a fully-functioning custom machine learning algorithm made with Geometry Nodes, a cool-looking robotic cable arm, fantastic LEGO assembly effects, and more.
