Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Becomes GOTY 2025, Surprising Absolutely No One

Overall, Sandfall Interactive's turn-based RPG has racked up nine wins at The Game Awards.

Unlike last year's installment, when Astro Bot's triumph genuinely caught many off guard, The Game Awards 2025 unfolded exactly as predicted, with Sandfall Interactive and Kepler Interactive's turn-based action RPG Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 securing the Game of the Year title to the shock of virtually no one.

Having been praised for nearly all of its aspects – from gameplay and graphics to story and performance – Clair Obscur became Metacritic's highest-rated game of all time shortly after release, and that acclaim has now been fully confirmed with the GOTY title.

Besides writing its name in history for that alone, Expedition 33 also set an impressive record by becoming TGA's most awarded title of all time, taking home nine wins and triumphing in nearly every category it was nominated for.
