Create Beat-Synced Animations in Maya with This Useful Tool

AnimBeat by Pierre Marine is great for walk cycles or other rhythmic animated setups.

Character Animator Pierre Marine shared a great tool that helps sync visuals with the music beat and allows for creating dynamic rhythmic animations.

AnimBeat is a real-time beat input tool that creates timing based on beats. It is simple in use: you just choose your frame rate and adapt it to your project; then you need to tap the rhythm and capture the timing. After that, the tool records the interval and captures the exact frame.

The tool is great for creating striking walk cycles, jumps, or any other animations, in which music and beat matter. Pierre Marine generously shared a script for AnimBeat, which you can get here.

Check out more of the useful tools for 3D artists that we featured before, such as an updated Baga Ivy tool for creating realistic ivy from Antoine Bagattini and Laura Mercadal, an updated Grove tool for drawing 3D trees from Wybren van Keulen, aka F12, and WaveManager, a tool for procedural wave motion in Maya from Julen Armendariz:
