The photo event is not only fun, but also has some impact on the game's story.
During the 2024 Tokyo Game Show, a lot more about Death Stranding 2 was shared, including the "Photo shoot event," which shocked many for being more advanced than the traditional photo mode that players have ever experienced. Some players have already decided to upgrade their devices to enjoy this new feature to the utmost.
The video clip showcases characters like Fragile, Rainy, and Tomorrow switching different poses and dancing freely in three different scenes, while Sam is catching a shot using a Polaroid-like camera. Players will receive a realistic-look photo soon after the shot, just like in real life. More interestingly, according to Game Director Hideo Kojima, the photo event could have some impact on the game's story.
The sequel to the 2019 Death Stranding game was announced at TGA 2022. Hideo Kojima obviously isn't going to present a "regular sequel" and has decided to offer something we haven't seen there before by using the latest technologies since the first part's release. The game received the first gameplay trailer in February this year, which features lots of cutscenes and gameplay footage, including scenes of Sam fighting bosses. Later, more details about it were revealed, like real-time natural disasters, a new vessel for navigating locations, and more.
The game is set to release in 2025 exclusively for PS5 players. Unfortunately, despite the developer having a release date in mind, they decided to postpone the announcement of it at this year's Tokyo Game Show "due to some unforeseen circumstances." So, we'll have to be more patient to learn the accurate launch date a bit later.

Other than this surprising photo mode, PlayStation also shared a lot more about the game during the Death Stranding 2 Special Stage, like new cutscenes, characters, et cetera. You can watch the recap of the Special Stage livestream here.
