Alexey Vanzhula has revealed Direct Modeling HDA, a new set of tools for hard surface modeling in Houdini that will allow you to create complex hard-surface forms quickly and efficiently. Basically, it’s an extended version of Flux HDA, the artist’s previous Boolean modeling toolkit. – enables users to create complex hard-surface forms quickly and efficiently.
The new version is said to generate much better mesh quality, especially when it comes to complex cuts or poor-quality source geometry.
The update brings new geometry library, insert mesh system and general-purpose modeling tools, so the creation will be a lot easier.
The asset also allows to save custom models to the library, constructing a collection of kitbash parts.
The toolkit introduces an insert mesh system to let users replace a face or group of faces on a target model with another geometry object.
