You can freely walk in VR and never meet the walls face-first.
I love seeing technology that can have both practical and virtual use, and Disney has a treat for me and you if you're also into such stuff. Lanny Smoot, the company's "Research Fellow" and "Imagineer", has presented the HoloTile floor – a material that keeps you in place while you're walking, as if by magic.
You can see from the video that several people can walk forever in any direction without colliding with each other – the floor will make sure they stay put.

You might wonder where such tech could be useful, and Smoot has a couple of ideas. First of all, imagine the level of immersion the HoloTile provides for VR games. You can not only fight monsters or collect Pals in the latest hit Palworld (which can also support VR with a mod), but traveling around the virtual worlds would also be a pleasant and realistic experience with this floor.
Apart from this, the HoloTile allows actors and dancers to perform some cool tricks on stage. I'm sure we can come up with more use cases in the future, I could see it helping with transporting heavy objects, although some adjustments might need to be made first.

This magical floor is not ready for mass production yet, but it's an inspiring concept, just like Adobe's animated dress that can change patterns.
