A new start-up to rival OpenAI.
Elon Musk has founded a new AI company called X.AI to nicely fit with his SpaceX, X.com, and, of course, X Corp., as he tries to accelerate X, "the everything app". It is based in Nevada and was incorporated on March 9th, 2023, according to The Verge.
Earlier, reports said Musk had purchased thousands of GPUs for the new company's product and asked for funding from SpaceX and Tesla investors. The idea, it seems, should compete with OpenAI, which Musk co-founded in 2015 and left three years later.
Interestingly, in March he also signed the open letter calling for companies to pause AI experiments.
