Blindsight is already working on monkeys.

Elon Musk's Neuralink is known for its chips that allow people (and animals) to move a mouse on the screen with thought power alone. Its first human patient recovered a month ago, and the company doesn't plan to stop here.
Another product Neuralink is working on is Blindsight, a chip that cures blindness – a fantastic and very important feat. Musk mentioned it in 2023, saying it would be ready in a few years.
"That is the next area after enabling phone/computer telepathy for those who have lost their mind-body connection. We [are] waiting for regulatory approval for our first human."
The research is moving smoothly, it seems, because Musk now claims Blindsight already works on monkeys, although the vision might not be as clear as expected at first: "Resolution will be low at first, like early Nintendo graphics, but ultimately may exceed normal human vision."
He promises that no monkeys have been seriously injured or killed.
This is the next step after the aforementioned Telepathy chip, promising and ambitious. Hopefully, we'll hear more about it soon.
