Epic Games Demonstrates You Can Model, Rig & Animate in Unreal Engine

Check out this keychain made by C. Michael Neely.

We usually associate Unreal Engine with game development, passing the responsibility of creating assets to other DCC software, like ZBrush or Blender, but C. Michael Neely, Technical Account Manager for M&E at Epic Games, has proven that UE has everything a developer needs already inside with his latest showcase.

"With a bit of thoughtful planning, you can model, rig, and animate in Unreal Engine!" he said.

He showed that this nice stylized keychain can move really well, all thanks to UE's built-in features. He used its modeling tools, Skeleton Editor, and Control Rig for this clean result.

"One of the cool things here is you can also bake the dynamic animation out to an animation clip for easy portability across multiple shots."

You can see him making a voxelization effect in the software and other projects on Neely's LinkedIn.
