Flexible Hand Rig Set Up in Blender

Chris Jones has showcased an awesome new rig and shared some details on how it was made.

Chris Jones, a 3D Artist, Illustrator, and Blender enthusiast widely known for his lifelike character animations, continues the Human Progress series with one more outstanding piece. This time, the creator showcased Tendons, an extremely flexible hand rig created using Blender. According to the creator, the hand's extensors are "weighted to bones on the main rig", with "some helper bones on the knuckles to slide them around".

"There's a vertex group on the hand mesh to isolate the shrinkwrap to the proximity of the tendons/bones," commented the creator on how the rig was set up. "There are Smooth modifiers for each as well to soften the transition, and those use the same vertex group to isolate the smoothing."
