Former Hearthstone Designers To Work On A Marvel Game

Former Hearthstone director Ben Brode and a team of his fellow artists left Blizzard last year, and it now turns out their next big project is a Marvel game.

Former Hearthstone director Ben Brode and a team of his fellow artists left Blizzard last year, and it now turns out their next big project is a Marvel game.

Second Dinner, a new indie studio by Brode, former Hearthstone executive producer Hamilton Chu, and several other ex-Blizzard employees, revealed it’s gotten a $30 million investment from the Chinese company NetEase and the thing here is that the team’s first game will be set in the Marvel universe. The company is looking for talented artists in Irvine, California.

2018 was quite rough for Blizzard with the departure of Brode and Chu, its CEO, Mike Morhaime and “cost-cutting” becoming the keyword. Employees are also afraid of the Activision’s growing influence on the company. What’s next? We hope everything will turn out just fine.

It is also worth noting that NetEase is also a co-developer on Diablo Immortal. The team has also partnered with Blizzard on the Chinese versions of games like Hearthstone and World of Warcraft. What is more, it invested $100 million in Bungie for a new IP.
