Fun Perspective Experiments Made for 2.5D Game in Godot
Jaklub shows some interesting navigation.
A game developer known as Jaklub has some cool paths to show you if you're into 2.5D games. These Godot scenes are bare (or maybe it's a design choice) but fun to look at.
The cat character explores moving and rotating structures, with the camera following every step they take.
If you want to create a similar setup, Jaklub explained the camera movement: it is rigged to be on the same path as the character, but paths can also be flagged to prevent the camera from following, instead sticking as close as possible to the old path.
"Most of the time camera is bound to the same path player is on, offset depends on forward vector on path and invisible spheres that alter the from/to vectors depending on distance. values are also lerped for smoothness."
The character moves in 2D: Jaklub pushes them to go left or right, "but what's left and right is defined by the path the character is on."
