Get Free Outline Unity Shaders From Post-Apocalyptic RPG It's All Over

Made for drag-and-drop use and compatible with version 6 and above.

Part Time Monkey

As Part Time Monkey explained, finding quality resources on creating outline shaders was a real challenge. Most available content is buried in long, view-driven YouTube tutorials, and it's rare to find projects that actually include the source files.

That's why they decided to keep things simple: just download the project, open it in Unity, and it works out of the box. Drop in any 3D model, and it instantly gets outlined, no shader setup required.

This Shader Graph-based setup is compatible with Unity version 6 and above. Grab the shaders here and watch how they're used in shaping It's All Over's art style:

In this quick overview, the first step is to add a toon shader into the scene using ramp textures. Next, a crosshatch texture should be applied to the shadows, along with a mirrored version on SSAO. The following step is adding outlines as a full-screen effect, utilizing the outline shader kindly provided by the developer. Afterward, procedural shaders are applied to introduce random dots, lines, "splats of color," and a few diffuse textures. The final step is introducing additional lights for nighttime and VFX.

According to Part Time Monkey, the outlines are generated using world normal and depth information to determine where they should appear. The package includes a single material with an adjustable thickness parameter.

It's All Over is a single-player RPG set in a post-apocalyptic world, where players explore a range of richly detailed environments, from once-bustling cities to desolate wastelands. The world ended while you slept. Seventy-five years later, you wake to nothing but ruin and set out to uncover the truth behind the apocalypse.
