God of War Ragnarök is indeed coming to PC. The announcement was made during Thursday's State of Play, confirming the game's release on September 19, 2024.
As per the PlayStation blog, the PC version of God of War Ragnarök will provide an enhanced gaming experience with unlocked framerates and an option for 4K resolution. Powered by NVIDIA RTX DLSS, AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution, and Intel XeSS, players can expect superior graphics and high-resolution outputs. Upon release, players will have access to all post-launch updates, including a New Game+ mode and the God of War Ragnarök: Valhalla DLC.
The announcement has undoubtedly excited the gaming community, especially PC players. However, amidst the loud "hoorays", some concerns have been voiced regarding the need to connect to a PlayStation Network account, as indicated in the text beneath the trailer.
Sony
It was still a pain for many that the release of Helldivers 2 on Steam was paused in approximately 177 countries on May 5. This was due to Sony's requirement for a mandatory PSN account linking to play the game on PC, which restricted access in regions where such accounts were unavailable. The decision resulted in tons of negative reviews of the game on Steam, and finally Sony retracted the mandatory PSN linking requirement for Helldivers 2 PC players, a move that only took effect yesterday.
It looks like the same story is going to happen again. When Sony decided to remove the PSN linking requirement for the Helldivers 2 PC version, it said, "We’re still learning what is best for PC players." What's highly likely is that they'll need another lesson to remember what is right or wrong.
