Godot Road Generator Now Features Better Procedural Intersections
Give TheDuckCow's plug-in a try.
Godot Road Generator by Patrick W. Crawford, better known as TheDuckCow, does exactly what its name suggests: it generates roads. The developer has just shared a newly merged update that adds traffic lanes for intersections, an improvement contributed by the community.
The plug-in includes a wide range of features, including fully customizable road geometry built on Path3D node for seamless tiled road textures without gaps, dedicated road generation nodes, and flexible procedural intersections. It also provides a node for easily following roads, supports an arbitrary number of lanes, and automatically generates lane-change geometry, collision meshes, and AI lane paths with neighbor connectivity.
There are also custom viewport gizmos, interactive tools for quickly creating and connecting roads, Terrain3D flattening support, and the ability to export roads directly to GLTF for further customization and to easily swap them back into your scenes by disabling procedural geometry while retaining AI lanes.
It's compatible with Godot 4.7, and you can download it here. Godot developers should also keep an eye on Foyez's upcoming tool, which lets users blend materials using a workflow similar to Unreal Engine:
