Great Real-Time Destruction Simulation Made in Unreal Engine 5.3

The author utilized Chaos and Niagara Fluids to set up the sim.

VFX Artist and Founder/Instructor at RedefineFX Jesse Pitela, who back in 2023 impressed us on numerous occasions, continues to experiment with Unreal Engine 5's Chaos and Niagara Fluids, demonstrating a new mesmerizing effect achieved with them.

For those unaware, Niagara Fluids is a plug-in for UE5 that brings real-time fluid effects to the engine. With Niagara Fluids, you get access to standard fluids templates that help you create such visual effects as fire, smoke, gas, and others. The plug-in adds both 2D templates, optimized for games, and 3D templates, designed primarily to be used in cinematics.

Chaos, on the other hand, serves as Unreal Engine's high-performance physics and destruction system. Utilizing Chaos Destruction, users can achieve cinematic-quality visuals in real-time, particularly in scenes featuring extensive levels of destruction.

Combining the two together, the artist has set up an outstanding crumbling wall simulation, complete with an appealing attack FX and realistic-looking smoke. According to the creator, the sim runs in real-time and uses the 5.3 version of the engine.

And here are some more of Jesse's most recent projects:
