Rob Cunningham shared a story of founding Relic Entertainment back in 1997 and talked thoroughly about the creation of Homeworld, its well-known sci-fi RTS game, which later turned into a whole franchise.
During the interview, Rob discussed how he met with future co-founders of Relic Entertainment and the experience in game development they had at that time. He also briefly talked about their ways of finding the right art direction their biggest inspiration for the style and the feel of the game.
The key topic of discussion is the problems the team faced during the production. For instance, the team wanted to create a 3D game, where the players were in space, so the camera had to rotate around, zoom in and out, and it all had to be very flexible. No game at that time had such technical features.
