Technical Artist Sahar Yousefi continues working on her Houdini-powered tool that can procedurally generate 3D creatures, offering another look at the WIP generator's capabilities so far in her latest demo showcase.
As described by the artist, the tool is capable of generating every aspect of a creature, from bones and muscles to skin, with impressive anatomical accuracy, and includes procedural rigging, animation, and muscle simulation. The setup also offers complete control at every stage of the process, allowing users to tweak and perfect their creations. What's more, the tool is said to be very easy to use, with the creator saying it's possible to generate highly accurate and detailed creatures "with just a few clicks."
"Anatomical precision was and still is the most challenging part of this project, for it I studied deep into animal anatomy," Sahar said. "There are many similarities between every species, but sometimes you have some differences, for which a panel of controls is available to adjust.
My goal was for the user to have to do as little tweaking as possible, but when it comes to anatomical accuracy, you need to do some extra steps. Also, if a very high level of accuracy is needed, the result of the tool can serve as a good base to take into sculpting programs and adjust more. All in all, I still continue to study anatomy and update the tool, because my goal is to have the highest possible precision, of course!"
At the moment, it is unknown when the tool is going to become commercially available. Hopefully, more information will be provided during the upcoming Everything Procedural Conference 2025, which Sahar plans to attend to give a presentation on the project.
In the meantime, we highly recommend following the artist on LinkedIn to stay updated on any future developments.
