Onimusha: Way of the Sword, an upcoming fantasy action-adventure from CAPCOM, releases on September 4 and brings back the beloved franchise as its first new entry in more than a decade.
The game was created in such a way that new players could easily jump in and experience the world, Director Satoru Nihei shared, according to PC Gamer's Print Editor Robert Jones' coverage. At the same time, Way of the Sword will be appreciated by fans of the series.
The protagonist of Onimusha: Way of the Sword is a fierce young samurai, fighting his way through one bloody encounter after another. To bring this character to life, Capcom cast the late Japanese film legend Toshiro Mifune as the face model for its version of Miyamoto Musashi.
What attracts attention is that Capcom also used motion capture not only to bring human characters to life but also creatures, like a floating-head monster. For example, to animate a character with several pairs of arms, the team filmed four actors' movements, as Hiroshi Yugen, Art Director of Animation and Motion Capture, shared.
