Impressive Leaf Decay Animation Made With Houdini & Substance 3D Designer

Maximilien Vert continues the series of leaf-related artworks with one more beautiful piece.

Maximilien Vert, a Senior Technical Artist at Adobe Substance 3D and the creator of the renowned Leaf Generator, continues to amaze us with his digital 3D leaves by showcasing one more beautiful animation.

This time, the creator unveiled Leaf Decay Exploration, a captivating short simulation that depicts the final days of a typical tree leaf after its fall from a tree. According to the artist, the project was made using Substance 3D Designer, which was used to create the animated texture, and Houdini, utilized for setting up the vellum simulation for the mesh, as well as Blender Cycles, used for rendering.

Earlier, Maximilien also utilized the same combination of 3D software to create a highly-realistic animation, depicting a tropical plant leaf covered with raindrops:
