Indie Dev Shows a Prorotype of a Woodworking Game, and It's Amazing

Check out a WIP clip from Nikita Prianichnikov.

Indie developer Nikita Prianichnikov has shared a demo of a prototype that simulates real wood. The concept is a game that lets players work with basic carpentry tools like wood turning, chisels, drilling, and sawing.

Speaking about the project, Prianichnikov revealed he's currently focused on cutter resistance, which is proving trickier than expected. "I'm actually working on the cutter resistance right now, but it's a tough one, because if you make it too resistant and 'realistic' it makes the cutting very annoying," he explained. "So the gold middle is somewhere in our brain where we imagine how it's working, but not in the real life, I guess."

He also noted that a mouse only offers two or three degrees of freedom, unlike real life, where the cutter can be placed at any angle to create more sophisticated, controlled shapes.
