Indie Dev Shows Seamless Animation Made for Factory Game Inspired by Opus Magnum & Infinifactory

Check out the creative techniques behind Number Machine: Math Factory.

Have a look at this cool seamless pause animation created by indie developer ARIELEK for their factory game Number Machine: Math Factory. The animation reflects the industrial topic of the project, and you might want to watch it several times to take a closer look at the intricate mechanisms. An ASMR-like sound design makes it even more attractive.

ARIELEK explained that the game features a single camera motion from start to finish, so every screen transition is handled with a detailed animation. This technique is also used when a player pauses the game, and the showcased animation moves all the hexagons out of the way to unveil the 2D main menu hidden below the map.

As for the game, Number Machine: Math Factory was released last November. It's an open-ended factory and automation game. In Number Machine, you need to design, build, and optimize factories that automatically assemble and deliver complex numerical structures. The idea draws on Opus Magnum and Infinifactory, but Number Machine features math mechanics in its gameplay.

You build automated factories using specialized machines on a hexagonal grid. Numbered orbs can be moved, combined, split, destroyed, or modified with math to create shapes and values that match specific requirements. You can also use various helping devices: conveyors, pushers, lasers, magnetism, rotators, and more.

Number Machine features a vibrant cel-shaded graphic style and seamless animations. The art style was inspired by Chants of Sennaar.
