Injustice 3 Might Be In The Works, According To A Dataminer

NetherRealm Studios may be working to continue the beloved superhero fighting game franchise.

WB Games

A dataminer named MultiverSusie, who used to be dedicated to exploring and sharing hints about the now-defunct Multiversus, has teased that Injustice 3 might be in development. The word "injustice" appears three times in an X post, with a separate number 3 in a following reply to their own post, almost reading Injustice 3 directly.

The Injustice series has released two games so far. The superhero fighting games, featuring iconic characters from the DC Comics universe, were developed by NetherRealm Studios and published by its parent company, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment.

When the last installment was released eight years ago, it sold 1.5 million copies in the first three months and made itself "the highest-grossing console game" in Q2 of that year.

The most recent game released by NetherRealm Studios is Mortal Kombat 1, which came out in September 2023. This game is the twelfth main installment in the other fighting game franchise that the studio is known for. Last December, a few insiders confirmed the rumor that pack 3 and the second story expansion had been canceled. They stated that the game would not receive any new content, possibly due to the poor performance and reception of Khaos Reigns Expansion.

Back in 2022, Ed Boon, co-creator of the MK and Injustice franchises and creative director at NetherRealm Studios, directly said that the studio's next project would be "I3 or MK12." Now that MK 12 has been released, it seems likely that the studio has shifted its focus to creating a new game in the Injustice franchise.
