Thomas Bittner has announced the beta release of the long-awaited Maya to Unreal Engine's Control Rig converter for his custom Kangaroo-Builder rigging tool.
Over a year ago, Thomas Bittner began working on a feature for Kangaroo-Builder to enable the creation of Control Rigs from Maya ones. The goal was to ensure that any Maya rig built with Kangaroo-Builder could also be converted to Unreal Engine's Control Rig.
Big news: the Maya to UE Control Rig converter is finally available in the latest version of Kangaroo-Builder. While it's still in beta and future improvements and updates are planned, it's already functional and has been successfully used in production, including complex character rigs.
You can learn more about it in this new video tutorial published by Thomas Bittner:
If you missed this news, Kangaroo-Builder is Thomas Bittner's custom framework for rigging in Maya, a complete system that includes rig builder, tools for face rigs, a pipeline for collaborating and sharing within your team and creating backups, skinning, weight maps, and geometry tools.
