SAG-AFTRA's actors can work with Lightspeed L.A. despite the strike.
Lightspeed L.A., a North American company under Tencent's LIGHTSPEED STUDIOS, has reached an agreement with the Actors Guild SAG-AFTRA on using AI protections in its games.
Lightspeed L.A. is working on Last Sentinel, a futuristic action game "set decades from now in a reconstructed Tokyo." As stated by VentureBeat, the agreement allows the studio to hire union actors to work on its games despite the video game strike over AI that started in July.

"Lightspeed L.A. has always recognized and valued the irreplaceable role of talent, which injects creativity, innovation, and the human touch into video games. Supporting our cast is the right thing to do and there was never any hesitation to consider the performer protections that anchor this agreement," said Steve Martin, General Manager of Lightspeed L.A.

Last Sentinel is among 80 games that agreed to SAG-AFTRA's demands of fair working conditions and not using actors to train AI without their consent.
The previous SAG-AFTRA strike put many shows on hold, so hopefully, this one ends amicably soon. If you're worried the most anticipated game ever, GTA 6, might have some issues because of this, breathe out: it won't be affected as titles in development before September 2023 are exempt from the strike.
