Learn How to Create Functional Portals in Unreal Engine 5 with This Free Course

If your game needs portals that are not just decorations but actually work, Pete Dimitrov has a great course available for free.

The portal is made using Blender, Unreal Engine 5, ZBrush, and Substance 3D Designer. It functions with Unreal Engine's Blueprints, and the VFX are done inside Niagara.

When you complete the project, your portal will be able to transport a character from point A to point B quickly and efficiently.

The course covers Blueprints, construction scripts, VFX, Niagara, modeling, and textures. It will teach you how to set up game objects in a way that promotes reusability and smart design. 

You will create the Material Graph for the portal vortex, instances in blue, red, yellow colors, and even a rainbow.

Then, you will do some Material Graph work in Unreal Engine 5 and create vortex plane VFX driven by material logic.

At the end of the course, you'll add some sound to make the portal even more natural.
