Megan Walker recently shared a closer look at her look development and grooming work for Astrid Hofferson in How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World (2019), the final film in the How to Train Your Dragon trilogy. Her contributions included hair, skin, and eye look development, grooming, as well as MoonRay re-look development during the studio's transition to path tracing.

She also advanced groom-driven materiality for elements like suede and fur, and contributed to building reusable Houdini material templates for eyes, hair, skin, fur, brows, lashes, and PBR clothing materials. MoonRay surfacing pass involved maintaining, modifying, updating, and extending texture and material responses as needed.

Above is a close-up lookdev pass showing the final hair, skin, eyes, brows/lashes, fur, leather, and costume material response in MoonRay.
