Maarten Hof's UE5-Powered Western Town Environment Has Been Completed

The scene is available as a downloadable asset pack via the UE Marketplace.

Over the past few months, 3D Environment Artist Maarten Hof has been regularly impressing us by demonstrating the working process behind Western Town, a stunning 3D environment that depicts a typical small town of the Southwestern United States.

Created with Blender and Unreal Engine 5, the scene featured multiple buildings and eye-catching hand-made details that one could marvel at for hours. Dozens of WiP renders and fantastic demos later, this gorgeous 3D scene has finally been completed, with the artist describing the project as his "most ambitious environment".

Much like Maarten's previous 3D scenes, Western Town is available as a downloadable asset pack via the Unreal Engine Marketplace, featuring everything you see in the screenshots. "This pack can be perfect for your next game, lighting study, or just to see how a scene like this is set up," commented the creator.

The pack comes with:

  • High-quality props with a realistic art style.
  • 8 Western-style buildings.
  • Simple interiors
  • 5 Pine tree variations plus other kinds of foliage.
  • Included water material for a creek or small river.
  • 2 Vista mountains for in the background (they don't have collision).
  • 14 Fully customizable master materials, including masked materials for the buildings.
  • Option to paint different ground on the landscape including puddles.
  • Channel packed Metallic/Roughness/AO.
  • Custom collisions to make sure everything is navigable.
  • Includes Lightmaps for all Meshes.
  • Supports Lumen and Nanite.
