Today, to celebrate May the 4th, let's take a look at a stunning 3D portrait of Obi-Wan Kenobi made by Adam O'Donnell.
Today, to celebrate a very special day for Star Wars fans, let's take a look at an amazing portrait of Obi-Wan Kenobi made by Senior Lighting TD Adam O'Donnell. The portrait looks very realistic and depicts a younger version of everyone's favorite Jedi master, portrayed in Star Wars prequels by Ewan McGregor.
According to the artist, the character was sculpted in ZBrush and textured in Mari using maps from TexturingXYZ. Lookdev and lighting were made in Maya/Arnold within an ACES color pipeline, and for hair generation, the artist used XGen. Below are the renders and some behind-the-scenes shots that were revealed by Adam:
What's more, the artist has also released an enormous 7-part tutorial series that covers sculpting, texturing, lookdev, lighting, and XGen techniques. You can check it out by visiting the artist's YouTube page.
And, as a bonus, here's an amazing portrait of Padme Amidala, also made by Adam:
