Many details are hinting at the reboot.
Fans are excitingly waiting for Mortal Kombat 12, but is it really going to be a sequel? Recent teasers and reports suggest we should prepare for a reboot instead, which will fall out of line with conventional naming.
According to Twitter used billbil-kun, Mortal Kombat 12 will actually be called Mortal Kombat 1. And when you think about it, it makes sense.
A week ago, NetherRealm released a short teaser, which showed us a grain of sand in the hourglass most probably belonging to Kronika, who can change timelines with it. Later, co-creator of the series Ed Boon posted another video demonstrating a hand of a clock moving to number 12 but then speeding to 1 instead. This lines up with the reboot/Mortal Kombat 1 theory perfectly well.
Most fans are really happy to see the old classic back and better than ever. We'll get to see Mortal Kombat in new graphics on next-gen consoles as it should be coming to PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
According to billbil-kun, the game will be available in three editions:
- Standard
- Premium
- Kollector's Edition
