New Free Toolkit Released For Maya Animators
Animo helps speed up animation workflows with tools for space switching, fast arc tracking, fast baking, animation layers, and more.
Ehsan Bayat, who you might remember for his free Maya tools Twosify, Pickify, and Vectorify, has now released a new one called Animo, an animation suite he has been developing and using in production for several years.
Animo brings together multiple tools designed to streamline workflows and eliminate repetitive tasks. It's completely free, open-source, and cleared for commercial use. Below is the full list of features currently included in Animo:
- Selection Sets;
- Animation Sliders;
- Fast Arc Tracker;
- Temporary Pivot Tools;
- Space Switching;
- Attribute Space Switching;
- Global Offset;
- Xform;
- Spider-Verse Style Animation Tools;
- Animation Repathing;
- Copy Animation from One Scene to Another;
- Copy Pose from One Scene to Another;
- Quick Export and Import Objects;
- Fast Baking;
- Animation Layer Tools;
- Multi-Camera Playblaster
Because Animo is open-source, contributions are welcome. The developer requests that if you choose to contribute, you respect the project's intent by keeping it freely accessible to the community, properly crediting contributors, and not commercializing the tools as your own work. Please note that Animo is currently in its beta stage and may contain some bugs.
To install, place the "Animo_Data" folder in Scripts inside the Maya folder in Documents, then simply drag and drop the installer file into Maya. After that, you should see a toggle button added to your shelf. Animo is supported on both Windows and macOS.
