Nintendo Aims to Ensure a Smooth Transition to the Next Console

Nintendo CEO Shuntaro Furukawa pointed out the need to make a transition from Switch to the following generation as seamless as possible.

Recently, Nintendo Head Shuntaro Furukawa responded to the questions from shareholders. One of the principal topics concerned the next generation of Nintendo Switch consoles. Furukawa said Nintendo wants to do "as much as possible in order to make a smooth transition".

He added that Nintendo intends to do this by using the Nintendo Account system. Accounts store information about the user, his digital purchases, bonus points, game saves and other data — the new console will have a compatibility with the current Switch model.

Nintendo Head also shared more details regarding the Switch's situation, stating that it shows an unusual level of user interaction at such a late point of the console's life cycle by the standards of Nintendo gaming systems. Nintendo broke records for the rapid release of the newest top exclusives by selling tens of millions of copies of games.

"For the seventh full fiscal year of Switch, we are going to sell 15 million consoles and 180 million copies of games, " revealed Furukawa.

Over the past six months, Nintendo released two games, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, which sold 10 million copies for Nintendo in three days. "We will continue to release games for our huge engaged audience on Switch. We also plan to distribute additional content for existing games so that customers can enjoy them for a long time.", finished his statement Nintendo Head.
