Nintendo Strikes PokéNational Geographic YouTube Channel into Oblivion
Are we surprised?
Elious, Nintendo
If there is one thing everybody knows about Nintendo aside from its Pokémon franchise, it's the fact that it absolutely loves suing anyone and everyone, its own fanbase included and perhaps even sadistically picked on.
This time, the company's merciless scythe reached Elious, the creator of the PokéNational Geographic YouTube series, which shows the Pokémon universe under the light of a nature documentary.
Elious said that Nintendo sent dozens of strikes, and now, his channel will be deleted in a matter of days due to the sheer number of complaints.
"Almost 100,000 subscribers over 3 years of making these animations, and it's all going to be gone in 7 days."
The creator is not even sure what the "works, characters, and imagery" that Nintendo flagged apparently violated copyright, as he says he only uses tiny audio pieces from games.
I think it's the subject matter itself: Nintendo is still fighting Palworld and has sued (or threatened to sue) a Reddit mod, the creator of a fan-made PC port of Link's Awakening, a streamer of unreleased Nintendo Switch games, emulator developers, and many other people.
Oh, and probably the fact that Elious profited from the series by selling previews on Patreon, as some X/Twitter users pointed out.
