Palworld Players Are Worried about Its Partnership with Sony

Pocketpair reassures them it has nothing to do with the game's development.

Pocketpair

A couple of days ago, Pocketpair announced its partnership with Sony Music Entertainment and Aniplex to establish Palworld Entertainment to accelerate the global development of the game and its further expansion. However, fans were not glad to hear the news, reminding the company about how Helldivers 2 was bombed with negative reviews because Sony forced players to bind a PSN account, leading to the game's removal from Steam.

While it's fine now, it's a worrisome precedent. Overall, a lot of people didn't meet the announcement well. However, it will probably be fine as Pocketpair's community manager reassured everyone concerned that the deal with SME isn't video game-related (via Video Gamer), and Palworld Entertainment is the "IP expansion side of things."

Palworld is available on PC and Xbox, so the partnership could have accelerated the PS5 release, but it doesn't seem likely if SME really doesn't have anything to do with Sony Interactive Entertainment.

Whatever the case, you can now purchase Palworld merchandise thanks to the deal.

Palworld's CEO recently denied the rumors of Pocketpair using AI to create Pals, saying its artists "draw thousands of sketches." I guess they do their job well because Nintendo hasn't sued the studio for infringement on IP rights.
