PC Gamers Get Twilight Princess HD Before Switch 2 Thanks To Fan Port
Dusk is available on PC and mobile platforms with higher resolutions and frame rates, improved gameplay options, and more.
Rumors of a potential remaster of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess have been circulating for quite some time. The game remains one of the most iconic entries in the series, yet it's still limited to its original Wii and GameCube releases from 2006. An HD remaster was released on the Wii U in 2016, so a Switch 2 port could be a great opportunity this year, but Nintendo has not made any official announcement so far.
However, if you're looking to play Twilight Princess on PC or mobile, a fan-made port called Dusk has been released, offering plenty of fixes and improvements for modern platforms.
Dusk supports Windows, Linux, macOS, iOS, Android, and Steam Deck. It runs at higher resolutions with uncapped frame rates and includes gyro aiming, multiple bloom presets, and a free cam, as well as text skipping, cheats, achievements, and mod support. Obviously, Dusk uses the original game's engine and core gameplay code, but it doesn't include any assets, so you need to own a copy of Twilight Princess to use it.
Dusk originally began in 2020 as a decompilation project developed by contributors from around the world. It's definitely part of a growing trend of fan-made projects focused on game preservation, and we also recommend checking out the fan-made PC port of Banjo-Kazooie.
