Recently, Chaos, best known for its V-Ray rendering engine, joined the growing community of open-source software supporters by becoming a Corporate Gold sponsor of the Blender Foundation's Development Fund. Now, PICO XR has been announced as the latest company to join the fund, stepping in as a Corporate Patron member.
PICO XR, a VR technology company known for its PICO 4 headset, often seen as a competitor to the Meta Quest 2, is contributing to Blender's OpenXR development. Through this collaboration, PICO aims to help advance immersive VR and MR experiences, opening up new creative possibilities for the global 3D community. By becoming a Corporate Patron, PICO is pledging an annual contribution of €240,000.
"At PICO, we are committed to supporting the Blender Global Open Source Community and fostering the flourishing 3D creation ecosystem. This partnership allows us to not only enhance 3D creation tools but to foster a community where every artist and developer can bring their unique immersive vision to life and connect with a global audience through OpenXR", commented Jessie Zhang, Head of Partnerships at PICO XR.
Just last week, the Godot Foundation welcomed JetBrains as a Platinum Sponsor.
