Real VR Fishing is launching on Android XR via Google Play, marking the latest expansion of Devs United Games’ long-running VR title into a new platform.

The experience retains its core focus on immersive, relaxed gameplay, offering players access to dozens of detailed environments, a wide range of fish species, and social multiplayer systems designed around shared, low-pressure interaction.

One of the biggest technical shifts for the Android XR version is the move away from traditional controller input toward full hand tracking. The developers behind Real VR Fishing tell 80 Level exclusively:

"On Android XR, our biggest challenge, and also our biggest focus, was translating the familiar controller-based fishing experience of Real VR Fishing into a seamless, natural hand-tracking experience. We implemented custom gestures that allow players to perform core actions without any controllers, while still feeling intuitive and responsive. At the same time, we achieved a significant boost in both performance and visual quality, ensuring that players could enjoy smoother gameplay and more realistic environments. This made it possible to bring Real VR Fishing to Android XR with confidence in both quality and immersion."

- Sazo Choi, CPO at Devs United Games

The Android XR version launches with a substantial content offering, including 40 base maps, over 100 locations through DLC, and more than 150 fish species.

This breadth of content reflects the game’s evolution as a live XR platform, where ongoing updates and DLC have steadily expanded both scope and replayability.

Hand tracking, in particular, is increasingly positioned as a way to reduce friction for new users while deepening immersion. However, it also requires careful tuning to maintain precision, responsiveness, and player comfort, especially in simulation-heavy experiences like fishing.
