Realistic and Interactive Robot Gaze by Disney Research

The Disney Research team presented the paper on its recent development of the system that allows creating realistic human-robot interactions.

During the International Conference of Intelligent and Robotic System, Disney Research showcased its recent project - the development of the system for life-like gaze in human-robot interactions.

The paper is focused on the general architecture with an aim to create gaze interactions for both, character animation and technological results. The created system can perceive the person in the environment, identify key persons of interests based on prominent actions, and select the appropriate behavior, including gaze, fidelity motions in order to respond.

The development team mimicked the same behaviour patterns described in the biological systems such as attention habituation, saccades, and more. Check the research publication on the Disney Research website.
