Retopology Tutorial: How to Place New Geometry in Blender Efficiently
Jan van den Hemel has another awesome guide.
Jan van den Hemel, the author of Blender Secrets known for his great tutorials, has a new tip for artists. Retopology is so taxing sometimes that this is probably the only part of 3D creation where even anti-AI people admit they'd give the task to a machine.
But van den Hemel will show you how to deal with it with your own hands. In his new video, he explains how to most efficiently place new geometry in Blender.
The quickest way to extrude, he says, is by holding CTRL and pressing the right mouse button where you want to lay down your vertices so you don't have to adjust the geometry much.
When you're done with retopology, you can simply redistribute the vertices using the Relax Slide brush. It relaxes the geometry without deflating the volume.
