Roblox Isn't on PlayStation Due to Concerns for Children

"We have been conservative for too long."

Roblox is a very popular game-in-game platform where you can create your own projects and let others play them for free. It is available on many devices, but PlayStation isn't one of them.

A year-old document unearthed for the FTC/Microsoft trial states that the reason for Roblox’s absence was a concern for children.

“Historically, because of the large number of children that play on the PlayStation, we have been very careful with regards to opening them up to anything that could potentially exploit them,” said PlayStation boss Jim Ryan.

He might be talking about the game's virtual currency that can be bought for real money. It seems like PlayStation was discussing releasing Roblox on the console back then already, but there is still no sight of it in the store.

"Over the last couple of years, however, we have reviewed those policies and relaxed a little on this," Ryan said. "We have been conservative for too long, and now we are currently engaging with people at Roblox. We hope that the situation will change."
