Last week, Blender Conference 2026 took place in the heart of Amsterdam, bringing together Blender artists, developers, and contributors from around the world. As usual, there were plenty of talks, informal meetings, and time to hang out with the Blender community.
Since then, lots of cool snippets from the conference have been popping up online. One comes from Cartesian Caramel, who recorded Blender 5.3 running on a Wacom Android tablet. The artist also noted that it works really well.
In August, the Blender Foundation reached out to Android tablet users for help with development, as bringing Blender to Android became a bigger priority. The project seems to be coming along nicely, as one of the BCON26 presentations offered a look at the current progress. Watch the video below to see an early Android build and learn about the technical challenges of bringing Blender to mobile platforms:
You can also download an official Android APK directly from Blender, with support for touch controls and pen input.
As usual, Blender Conference 2026 recorded and shared all the talks online. You can find them in this YouTube playlist.
In case you missed it, Blender 5.3 is currently in alpha until September 30 and is expected to bring native support for 3DGS, native dispersion support in the Principled BSDF, and new nodes for creating custom material lighting.
