Rassoul Edji demonstrated the hard work done for the character's animations.
You might not be a Transformers fan, but that won't stop you from admiring the stellar animations behind the transformations in the movies. Knowing what they looked like behind the scenes is even greater, and we can enjoy the show thanks to filmmaker and VFX artist Rassoul Edji's footage.
Edji revealed the viewport version of Optimus Prime's movements created in Maya. The animation looks complex, but the artist says the rigs are "fairly simple."
"Transformation shots are done using custom transformation tools which give animators full controls over any object in the model and even allow them to make cuts to the geo wherever they choose."
Each part was named based on the body part it corresponded to, so if you need another sign to start organizing your files right, take this advice from a well-known artist.
